Transition to SaaS Model for Monroe County Emergency Management

Juvare facilitated Monroe County, Florida Emergency Management’s transition to a new URL and the SaaS model, allowing users to focus on core tasks. Juvare did all of the leg work. We just sat down and, you know, launched a new URL. I’m Valerie Colasar, Monroe County, Florida Emergency Management. We’re a really small jurisdiction, even for as vulnerable as we are.

WebEOC has been a game changer for us. It’s kept us all together. It provides all of the key information we need. Transitioning to that new SaaS model was seamless for us.

The only thing that we really had to do was to just give our users a new URL. Transitioning to the SaaS model just let them focus on what they do best. Juvare did what they do best and had set up the installation for us. And, you know, it was really easier for us, much easier.

We’d already provided the databases and all the information they needed to make that change for us. Our IT team was just stretched a bit thin as it was, and doing the upgrades and the testing before they had to roll it out to dev and maintain the servers was just an awful lot on them at that point. If our servers go down in a storm, Juvare’s are still up. Once we get that network capability, our IT folks can still be working on trying to get our network up, but we don’t have to wait.

We can log right into WebEOC and just, you know, pick up as soon as feasible. Using the SaaS model has been a huge convenience because there are those real time updates going on. So, you know, as we’re making these edits and revisions to everything, it happens real time on us.

So we don’t have to wait, you know, for the next update eight months from now for a bug to be fixed, you know, or whatever, you know, get rolled out, tested, and the whole cycle that we used to have to go through before. Whatever we need is there in real time when we need it. We know that we can trust it.

We have standard documentation. It’s available to everyone in real time as it’s released. Our status boards keep us updated on, you know, what areas need more attention. And everyone has that identical information at the same time, whether you’re sitting on an EOC floor or if your boots are underground out there in the field. Juvare is the behind the scenes folks for us. They’re the ones that enable us to give that assistance to those when they need it most to to assure that get everything back restored even better than it was before the incident we’re facing.
